Giving new foods to your baby
My daughter is coming up on her 1st birthday and I've been giving her a lot of new foods to try.
She has become quite the good eater. I started off giving her vegetables and she enthusiastically eats them! She eats handfuls of fresh veggies every day. I give her cucumbers, red/green/yellow/orange peppers, carrots (raw & cooked), broccoli (raw & cooked), celery, spinach, and the list goes on. Lately I've been giving her cucumber chunks dipped in fresh hummus. She really enjoys it. I think it's important to give your baby new foods so they develop a broad spectrum of flavors. It's also fun for you to watch them try something new.
Remember to give your baby a balanced meal. Chicken, turkey, fish, avocados, eggs, and black beans are good sources of protein. Your baby doesn't need salt, pepper, and seasonings to flavor it. They don't know the difference unless you give it to them. Once you dilute the flavors with spices, your children will never accept the "true" flavors.
I like to save leftovers in baby Tupperware containers. Then her next snack is already made. Remember, your baby doesn't need sugar. If you want to give them something sweet to reward them, give them strawberries or a sweet fruit.
